Gym reservation app

Research

 

I started by creating a persona based on a user interview, taking into account her needs, goals, and pain points. The user’s name is Jessie, a freelance graphic designer who works from home. She wanted to plan activities outside of her home. One of her needs was to go to the gym. Her pain point was wasting time too much time waiting for machines at the gym. The solution was to reserve workout time with an App. 

Then, I studied many Gym Applications for mobile. I made a Competitive / Comparative & Task Analysis about their features and functionality of reserving gym time. I noticed that users had to enter a lot of data and reservations were not always possible.

Design

So, I sketched different screens based on user-centered design focuses on user needs/tasks.

Usability Testing

I came with a lot screens and eliminated some repetitive information to reduce number of screen.  I tested my GymPal App with different users. Based on my usability test data, I found out that I had too many screens and that I needed to design  less step to create an account or achieve a reservation. I removed unnecessary words and the sandwich navigation. 

Given more time to do research, I would like to investigate exercise routines in the app and user progress tracking.
